A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
